Founded in 1987 by Jenny Byrne, Zealandia is a jewellery brand that specialises in using ethically sourced natural materials to create unique jewellery designs.
Byrne leads the design team and each piece is handcrafted by artisans in Bali, Indonesia. The jewellery uses fossilised walrus tusk, ancient ivory, semi-precious stones, ammonites, fossilised orthoceras, mother of pearl and the vibrantly coloured paua shell, which comes from a species of mollusc found only in New Zealand.
Byrne is opposed to the trade in elephant and new ivory and supports conservation laws and efforts to protect elephants and endangered animals around the world.
