A very rare ‘musical box’ pendant brooch, Christian Dior by Mitchel Maer, c1954.
In the early 1950s, Christian Dior met Mitchel Maer, an American by birth who, having settled in England, founded a jewelry manufacturing company in London. His technical developments were very advanced and often followed the tastes of the Victorian era. Apparently, Maer’s jewelry designs not only coincided with Christiana Dior’s preferences, but also impressed her so much that she entrusted him with the production of jewelry for her brand. Mitchel Maer made several beautiful pieces of jewelry for Christian Dior.
