Lapponia is one of the few Scandinavian jewelry brands that in recent history has managed to gain great global popularity and became the founder of the Scandinavian Art Nouveau style in jewelry. A unique, unique design, a large number of manual operations during production and rather limited editions have made Lapponia one of the most mysterious jewelry brands.

The brand’s history is relatively short. It was created by Finnish designer Pekka Anttila. It is noteworthy that at first the brand did not intend to reach a high level, being content with making simple and inexpensive jewelry. But three years later, jeweler Björn Weckström joined the company and brought a new sculptural style to Lapponia products. The prototype of this style was gold nuggets that were found in Lapland, one of the regions of Finland.

Jewelry began to have a rather distinctive image, on the one hand reminiscent of the natural beauty and form of raw materials, and on the other, futuristic forms of the future. No wonder Lapponia products were even chosen as accessories to decorate Princess Leia in Star Wars. In addition to movie characters, jewelry from the Finnish brand was also popular among real stars. For example, John Lennon gave Yoko Ono rings from Lapponia.

Texture is very important for every collection from Lapponia. The Echoes series used a brushed silver technique, which gives the impression that the pieces are made from a nugget that has not even been melted down. Or in the Eterno collection, which used white and yellow gold and diamonds, the shapes seemed to be carved with a crude and primitive tool.

It is noteworthy that Lapponia designers never repeat themselves. Although over 50 years more than 30 different collections have been released, each new product has something unique in its design. The only and constant thing that unites all collections is the idea of human closeness with nature and at the same time the trends and forms of the new millennium.
