The history of the Coalport brand is closely linked to porcelain production: initially, they created tableware and figurines. The founding of the workshops in Shropshire dates back to the end of the 18th century, the time when the first workshops were formed around the canal of the same name.

The works of John Rose gained particular recognition, among which the molded flowers called “Chinese Coalport” stood out.

In the second half of the 19th century, the craftsmen introduced an exclusive technique – porcelain jewelry. This involved the use of small beads made of multi-colored enamel on gold bases, which made the products unique.

In the 1920s, the brand faced financial trials and in 1925 became part of Cauldon Potteries. Soon, production was moved to Staffordshire (1926). Despite retaining the Coalport name, after 1967 the brand became part of the famous Wedgewood group.
