Antonio Pineda was born, like many who later became famous masters, into an old family in Taxco, the silver center of Mexico, in 1919. He studied painting with Tamachi Kitagawa and David Alfaro Siqueiros, where he also studied sculpture. At the age of 14, he was noticed and invited by William Spriteling, owner of the Taller De Las Delicias trading company, which has already been described earlier. There, Antonio improved his skills for 8 years and his silver jewelry gained popularity. This allowed him to open his own business in 1941. Now he could implement his ideas without restrictions. His work received real recognition in 1946 after an exhibition held in San Francisco. Soon after this, jewelry from Antonio Pineda became recognizable throughout the West Coast of the United States.
